Pantone Color of the Year 2020: Classic Blue

Classic Blue has been dubbed 2020's Color of the Year by the Pantone Color Institute.

The Pantone Color Institute, a consulting service within the Pantone company, which is basically an official library of over 1 thousand colors that brands and consumers can refer to, is the authority on predicting the trendiest colors of the future, aka its annually and highly anticipated Color of the Year.

Last year, Pantone's Color of the Year was Living Coral— a bright and blushy hue that surprisingly proved to be more wearable than not.

2020's Classic Blue hue is easy to wear, universally flattering, and more androgynous than Living Coral was.

Btw, Pantone is not to be confused with longtime hair care company Pantene. They are two totally separate and unrelated companies, that sound oddly similar.

Here's how we plan to wear 2020's Pantone's Color of the Year . . . . .

Classic Blue Denim

We can't think of Classic Blue without imagining a pair of good old American blue jeans. Although, being the fashionable designer sale shopping App that we are, we of course need to think "Americana but make it fashion".

AGOLDE's 90's jeans are very Classic Blue, and their rigid structure, yet worn in fit, is impressive. These 90's jeans literally look like a pair of jeans that Jennifer Aniston would have worn in the 90's (and honestly she probably did). We suggest pairing these Classic Blue jeans with any tank top and a distressed pair of sneakers a la Golden Goose.

Moving in a totally different direction, here's an elevated take on the Classic Blue jean skirt. MSGM nails it with this unique belted blue jean midi skirt. If denim skirts are not normally your style, try adding a stretchy tube top, strappy heeled sandals, and an oversized bag (trust us, The Oversized Bag Trend is baaack!)

Every woman can benefit from having a pair of GRLFRND's Classic Blue cropped jeans in their closet. This brand is notorious for making your bum look GOOD and that's all we really want from our next denim purchase.

The Classic Blue Blouse

Range is important, and sometimes thinking outside of the box is when the best outfits happen.

Sustainable women's clothing brand Reformation knows how to make old-school style sexy again. A Classic Blue background graced with polka dots, a slightly puffed sleeve, and a sweetheart neckline are what makes this Reformation blouse a cut above the rest. Wear this sultry blouse with any Classic Blue jeans for the ultimate girl-next-door look.

LA-based brand STAUD goes tropical with this billowy blouse and we're not mad at it! This is how we vacation in Classic Blue.

Sleek, sexy, and refined, 3.1 Phillip Lim's Classic Blue off the shoulder knit is compatible with any bottom, so just buy it already, you won't regret it.

Classic Blue Dresses

Wondering how to wear Classic Blue, Pantone's Color of the Year 2020 all over? Go for a blue hued dress!

RIXO nails the Classic Blue dress vibe with this stunning blue and gold maxi dress. The model crosses the straps in the front, but you don't have to. This is a dress that packs and wears easily on any vacation.

And if you couldn't already tell, Spring/Summer 2020 is all about being bohemian chic. Ramy Brook is synonymous with bohemian chic, and this popover dress is a great way to wear Classic Blue this season. The model makes this bouncy dress look edgy by pairing it with combat boots.

Newcomer Retrofete is on every fashionista's radar, and this ruched Classic Blue mini dress is the perfect date night or girl's night out dress! Wear it with sky high heels or embellished or metallic flats. Don't go heavy on the accessories, sometimes less is more.

Classic Blue Shoes

We love a good statement shoe! If you're feeling more blue than Classic Blue and you want to dress in all black, do it! Just make sure you're wearing a pair of Classic Blue shoes to emphasize Pantone's Color of the Year 2020.

Super cool brand Neous takes the Spring/Summer bootie to a whole new level with its Jurassic Park/UFO print. We're wearing these futuristic yet nostalgic Classic Blue booties with any color mini or midi dress— to show them off properly.

Ecological sneaker brand Veja is the "IT" sneaker brand right now. Simple and classic, these sustainable sneakers definitely pay homage to 2020's Color of the Year.

We're fans of the thicker heel and square toe on Vince Camuto's Classic Blue alligator embossed strappy sandals. Wear these with any of the Classic Blue jean bottoms we mentioned earlier.

Classic Blue Bags

Bags are quite possibly our favorite accessories— as in we could hate our outfits but love our handbag choice, so all is good. Not to be dramatic, but a handbag can define your style if you let it.

Cult-favorite brand Jacquemus continues to wow us with everything it puts out, including this Classic Blue shoulder bag. Hit the image to see its chic and funky strap that makes it even more appealing.

Balenciaga is the definition of logo-mania, ie when it's back to back double B logo is used as nail art, but this Balenciaga city bag is more tame, with a little less logo. We love its simplicity and the fact that it's still a bold bag. This mini city bag is the perfect hue of Classic Blue, and this purse pairs excellently with any outfit.

Stella McCartney, queen of the faux leather handbag, makes this supple Classic Blue logo strap tote look so expensive. And it is expensive, but well worth it. This is a bag that you will literally have in your closet forever, and you can even pass it down. Come to think of it, if you buy expensive bags and wear them daily and take good care of them, they all pay for themselves!! Quality over quantity ALWAYS!
