The Color Trends You Should Be Adding to Your Closet This Winter

This season, color is a really big deal. We’ve been seeing a lot of statement color mixed with classic palettes on the runway and we’ve been obsessed with seeing how our fashion faves are styling the looks.

Color trends are great because they give you a versatile way to update your wardrobe for the season without giving into absolute trend pieces that you might not find yourself wanting to wear year after year. Embrace some of these on-trend hues and then pick fashion pieces you know you’ll wear for seasons to come to get the most out of your purchases. Plus, with a little help from Shop It To Me, you can find this season’s biggest colors, already with a huge amount of $$$ off the price tag.

Sound good?

Let’s go.

Pistachio Green

This cool-as-a-cucumber color is one of our faves this season. It’s been seen through street style imagery lots in head to toe looks with layers of tailored coats, smart trousers and knitwear alongside matching shoes and handbags to create a polished look from top to bottom. But you can also play with pistachio with just a few key pieces if a head to toe look isn’t your vibe.

Style with white and another pastel hue for a seriously runway-inspired take on the trend.

Deep red

Think mulled wine and you’re pretty much there with this romantic and rich color trend. We love how well this works for this time of year and for those that don’t like wearing very statement fire engine red, it’s a great alternative. Plus, does wearing a shade of red just not get everyone into the Christmas spirit?

Keep this look modern by opting for oversized and slouchy silhouettes as well as a touch of texture through fabrics, such as embossed leather and corduroy.

If you’ve got a formal event this season, this is a great color choice for chic eveningwear too and a perfect alternative to classic black.

Vanilla

Not just off-white but richer, the vanilla color trend is one of our favorites that we predict will last well into the seasons next year. Think creamy and delicious and opt for luxe streetwear and casual pieces in beautiful fabrics for this color trend. Style it with black accents for a super contemporary look and never be afraid to do a whole head to look vanilla outfit for extra style points.

Embrace the vanilla trend and opt for a soft cream leather jacket as a chic alternative to a classic black style.

Purple

This shade of purple lies somewhere between lilac, lavender, and violet. It’s not quite pastel but it’s soft and feminine. But done right, it’s also statement AF and we’re loving it.

Coffee

Did you hear? Brown is the new black. And coffee is the new brown.

This color trend is richer and slightly deeper than tan colors but lighter than a classic brown. This trend works best with rich and luxe fabrics with lots of texture, shine, and shimmer. Anything from textured wool or leather to satin works. This color trend also works perfectly with the biggest trends of the season when it comes to print – leopard and snake.

Double up on these two trends for a seriously fresh look that takes you from desk to dinner over the festive period.

Bright Pink

Go bold or go home. This trend is all about making a statement so only go here if you’re prepared to go all out. The bright pink trend works amazingly with color blocking. So, opt for a head to toe pink outfit or team a bold block pink top with a bold pair of contrasting trousers and a coat for a head-turning look with zero print involved.

Deep Forest Green

A great color for this time of year, we’ve been seeing lots of rich forest greens that have taken over from last year’s brighter emeralds. A versatile color trend to embrace, this palette will never go out of style. Working so well with classic pieces that you’ll keep forever, opt for classic knitwear, smartly tailored outerwear and a touch of leather.

Gold

Silver was huge last year, now it’s all about rich hues when it comes to metallics. Extra, extravagant and OTT, if you’re going to embrace gold this season, you may as well really go for it. We love the oversized and exaggerated shapes that we’re seeing as well as the added texture – because can we ever have enough sequins this time of year? We think not.
