Best Designer Dupes from the High Street
At Shop It To Me, we’re serious fans of designer fashion and accessories. We love to look at it, we love to shop it (on sale, if poss!) and we love to find you the best designer dupes on the high street for the times when you want the look without the price tag.
Here, we’re taking a look at some of the best pieces currently on the high street (and premium high street brands) that ooze high-end vibes. Update your fall and winter wardrobe with these designer look-a-likes and you’ll have the $$$ left over for all the hot chocolate you could wish for this season!
To be super clear – we are NOT into fake designer goods. So, if you’re thinking this is gonna be a fake Gucci bag blog – sorry, that’s just not our style. We’re not into companies who want to rip off designer labels at all. This is about finding items with a very similar look that are inspired by designer pieces not just outright copying them in poor quality.
Bucket Bag Obsessed
This season, designers everywhere have become obsessed with mini bucket bags. From Prada and Chloe to Fendi and Loewe, each label has created its own version of the trend but all with very similar features. Mini shape, chic top handle, huge price tag. While this is definitely a huge trend right now, bought well, it’s still a classic bag that you’ll keep and wear forever. However, if $2k+ isn’t really your bag – We’ve found a brand that’s created the look for under $400 and on Shop It To Me, they’re now under $200 and we’re impressed.
These Vince bucket bags combine leather and suede for a luxe and textured look with a canvas interior. Their structured finish gives them a really expensive feel and at less than $200, they’re a great way to get the designer bucket bag look without the hefty investment.
Gucci Loafers
Whether it’s velvet, classic leather or canvas, everyone’s loving Gucci loafers right now – all as part of the brand's phenomenal revival the past few seasons, since the return of the double G logo. These are the perfect fall shoe and style perfectly with a casual straight leg jean for a laid-back but polished weekend look. Not too keen on the $500+ price tag? A couple of high street names have created something a little similar.
Steve Madden, of course, popped up with some classic and trendy chunky loafers straight away and around $50-$100.
However, our favorite for luxe detailing has to be Sam Edelman. Bringing all the classic shapes and styles with seriously good animal print effect accents, we’re obsessed with the snake, croc and leopard print pieces, perfect for this season and on Shop It To Me, now under $100.
Shrimps Pearl Bags
Shrimps burst onto the scene in a huge way this last season because of their pearl beaded bags and fashion fans all over the world went wild. At between $500-$1000, these little beauties are no Chanel Boy bag but it’s still a pricey investment for what is almost certainly a trend piece.
For a similar look but not, Topshop immediately jumped on the wagon with a range of beaded bags. In a huge selection of colors and patterns, you can pretty much find anything you like but if you want to keep it simple and classic, this clear beaded top handle is the one for us. And it’s 50% off at $30 right now. You read that correctly.
At a slightly higher price point but at least half the price of a real Shrimps, the brand, Loeffler Randall, have created a very similar look with some super girly and on-trend accents. From feathers to metallic beading – this label took the trend and added extra trends. So basically, if you’re looking for a trendy alternative for this season, they’ve got it nailed for you!
The Balmain Blazer
Double-breasted blazers are a serious look right now. They’re the perfect fall jacket and they give even the simplest outfit an edge. And who makes a better blazer than Balmain? Classic, sharp, incredibly fitted and finished with double-breasted gold-tone hardware buttons. These things are the dream. But at over $2k a pop, they’re also no joke when it comes to style investments and there’s very clearly a chance that two grand for a jacket is just too much for most.
While Shop It To Me promises that when they go on sale, we can find it for you, they’re never going to be reduced to under even $1k so if this isn’t the price for you, we’ve got your back with an alternative.
Now, tailoring is not where you want to scrimp and save when you’re shopping for fashion. There are some pieces where cheap alternatives can work when done well but when it comes to tailored items like this, premium quality pretty much is always worth it.
So – we’ve picked out Veronica Beard. We know these aren’t cheap but they’re definitely dupes but just with extended quality. Starting at $650, these are now reduced to under $400 which although still pricey, make for a great investment that you’ll wear season after season with everything from workwear to jeans and heels.
If you’re looking for a similarly sharp look but for under $100 – we’re quite impressed with the fit and quality of these two options too.
Top tip - If you want the Balmain look without the price - buy a cheaper alternative, like the below Banana Republic blazer and source some goldhardware buttons and simply replace. It really does make all the difference.
Chloe Python Boots
The fashion pack has been loving Chloe’s snake boots of late and since one of the biggest trends for fall is snake again, they’re not going anywhere any time soon. However, at over $1000 a go for these bad boys, a high street alternative was bound to be the option for lots of people.
These are some of our favorites from Steve Madden and Sam Edelman.
Gucci’s Quilted Bags
The Gucci Marmont range has gone into another stratosphere for the past couple of seasons. Wherever you look, wherever you are, you’re pretty much guaranteed to see one of these quilted leather beauties. It remains to be seen if this is truly a classic bag or if someday soon the look will be out again as quickly as it arrived. Our opinion? It’s not going anywhere and it’s a pretty safe bet for a designer investment as long as you go for a classic shape and palette.
However, if you don’t want to spend thousands of dollars on the look of the moment, Steve Madden has recreated the quilted look sans double G. What do you guys think? Would you wear it without the logo? Or is it too close to call?
THE Max Mara Teddy Coat
Ok, so this winter, THE coat of the season is the Max Mara Teddy Bear Icon coat. It’s deliciously warm for the coldest winter days and it pairs with literally anything from gym gear to jeans or even the dressiest outfit. It basically makes any look feel amazing while being the most comfortable and coziest thing you could ever wear. Plus, it comes in the most beautiful palette of color options for every style and taste. But at $3,690, this is a coat with a serious price tag and not for the faint-hearted.
Although I’m sure you’d love to re-mortgage the house and take one of these in every color, it might not be the wisest style/financial decision of your life. So, we’ve picked out some of the best high street dupes with a similar look and a fraction of the price.
As you can see, we picked all these designer dupes from our partner retailers on Shop It To Me. Not signed up yet? What have you been doing!?
