Loads of people I know wouldn't touch black with a barge-pole in the summer. I, however, am a lover of black through and through and it would be a travesty to skip these pieces just because of the season!
You can still do black with a lil floral if you don't want to do H2T block colour. I really like how these dresses all incorporate a coloured floral design but they are non-the-less still black. Perf.
I don't care what anyone says, a black jumpsuit is chic, cool and totes appropriate for any summer time engagement. I love this little Billabong bust tie detail and the wide-leg shape means it looks a little like a maxi dress, a little like a jump-suit, who knows!?
The perfect black combo for summer; the slip dress and the slide.
I love this look so much I might do a whole fashion post about it (watch this space!) This simple black slip is a pure investment and paired with a plain black (ok, yes they're YSL) slide, this look could take you from food shopping to lunch to a date with it's eyes closed.
Lace is a nice way to do black in the summer because it softens it a little. I end up wearing most of my lacey purchases during the warmer months. I Love the dress for a summer night out and both the skirt and crop top could be styled super casually for a more breezy vibe.
I have several black skirts that I rotate through the summer but I'm always on the hunt for more. I would wear this Proenza handkerchief skirt with mules (obvs) and a knotted tee and this 3.1 Phillip Lim I would actually dress right down and do sneakers with it to make it more edgy.
This dress though...
The shape of this dress is darrrrling. It really doesn't matter that it's black because it's clearly made for summer-lovin'- and I really am. I'd team it with layers of gold necklaces (maybe a coin pendant) and white sneakers or heeled mules for a dressier look.
