What To Wear With A Denim Jacket
If you've been keeping up with our blog posts, then you already know that we recently wrote a piece on "The Best Denim Jackets To Keep Forever", highlighting oversized trucker jackets that actually look polished.
Here, we'll focus on what to wear with a jean jacket, to get a stylish fashion-forward look— every time.
Denim on Denim
When the dress code calls for denim, why not double up? We dig the matchy-matchy look, and didn't your mother ever tell you that everything is better in a set?
Fortunately, this is an easy look to master, even when dealing with different colored wash denim, because the double denim look complements itself.
We suggest pairing Frame's peplum mid wash denim jacket with Re/Done's high-rise ankle crop jeans and then adding ballerina flats.
Wear the Jean Jacket with a Hoodie
Here's an outfit idea: throw your denim jacket over a hoodie. Taking from street style vibes, this casual look is a trending one.
We suggest wearing this denim jacket and sweatshirt combo with matching dark wash skinny jeans à la Gigi Hadid. She also went the distressed route and shows us how this pairing is done right.
However, if you don't want to do the denim on denim look, you can switch out the skinny jeans and opt for leggings or black biker shorts instead.
Shop It To Me has tons of affordable, contemporary, and high-end designer denim jackets, (sale shopping at its finest) so you can create as many looks as you want. Obviously, we found all of our denim jacket outfits via Shop It To Me.
And to get Gigi's look, we prefer H&M's distressed denim jacket.
The White Tee Pairing
Jeans and a t-shirt, no? A white tee literally goes with everything and we're never not on the hunt for the perfect t-shirt.
You can team this tee and denim jacket outfit with blue denim jeans, leggings, joggers— whatever. BUT, we have to admit that we are currently fussing over Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's pairing of her blue denim jacket and white tee with a black leather skirt.
By pairing your denim jacket with a white tee and a leather skirt, you take the concept of a casual outfit to next level chic. Pair with sneakers— check out our piece on Classic White and Funky Sneakers for outfit ideas.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley is wearing a light wash blue jean denim jacket by Paige, and we found it on sale via Shop It To Me.
Wear your Denim Jacket over a Mini Dress
A play on shapes, when wearing a tighter mini dress, wear a looser oversized denim jacket as a topper. With regard to styling, you can always wear it over your shoulders, off one shoulder, or off both shoulders.
Take this concept to the next level by wearing your oversized jean jacket with a fancier mini dress. We adore slip dresses and we're especially fond of this Alice + Olivia chainmail mini slip dress paired with an ultra oversized denim jacket.
Frame's dark wash denim jacket looks stylish against Alice + Olivia's mini— and here's a stylist tip: to get an even more oversized look, buy an already oversized (or regular size) jean jacket, but buy it 1-3 sizes bigger for an exaggerated effect. This super baggy fit looks best when paired with a skin-tight mini.
We also figured out The Best Dresses You Can Wear With Sneakers and now we can add "and a jean jacket" to the end of that title, because every dress and sneaker outfit we found will also pair flawlessly with a denim jacket.
