In the case of one of our top stylists, pointed pumps precede all others.

If the toe box doesn't look like a weapon, she's not into it.

Now, she has a couple of pumps (literally probably 2) that resemble more of an almond shaped toe, but they are obviously few in comparison.

So we are now riding the ultra pointed pump train to see what all the fuss is about— and we're taking you with us.

So this is what we know so far . . .

The pointed pump is a stiletto heel that:

  • comes to a sharp triangular point at the toes
  • you should always size up .5 to a full size when wearing this style, because there is less room than normal for your toes to move around
  • the pointed pump will always elongate your legs, no matter your size, shape, or height of the heel. The pointed pump does not discriminate— even pointed flats elongate the legs (but that's for a another post)
  • last but not least, this pump raises your sophistication level up a few notches, as it's definitely a more polished shoe

Now on to the usual suspects . . .

You've probably seen many pointed pumps that look like these:

This black pair of leather pointed pumps by Via Spiga is the quintessential wear to work pump— especially if you prefer a higher heel over a kitten heel for the office (more power to you). And did we mention we love a colored patent pump? Sophia Webster nails it with these 'rio' lilac/pink pumps. So refreshing to see in a sea of neutrals. Wear these with a little black dress or black mini skirt look.

Another refreshing color to see (if you consider white a color) is the pointed pump in white. We love the white pump with straight leg jeans and a white tee. These Stuart Weitzman pumps more than fit the bill for all of our white pump fantasies.

The outliers . . .

These pointed pumps aren't too far off the charts to the point where they become unwearable, but they are definitely for the unabashed. Nevertheless, make a statement in these unexpected styles:

OMG SHOES!!! These Saint Laurent red bandana print kitten heels are TO.DIE.FOR. We'd style ours with black straight leg or skinny denim and a black top, for an all black outfit with a pop of color. These are extremely street chic and oddly perennial, so don't think they'll sit in the dust. (btw, if by now most items are sold out, it's because people know a good deal when they see one. At first glance these Christopher Kane pumps look WEIRD af, but when you really think about them they are brilliant. These are the pointed pumps you didn't know you needed. It's often times that the shoes we forget about, or the most random/peculiar patterned (much like the above jacquard slingbacks), are the ones that get the most use once we discover their endless possibilities.
